Iraqi forces seize 141 ISIS rockets in Anbar desert

Iraqi forces seized over 100 medium and short-range Katyusha and Grad rockets, and other locally-made rockets belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) in the Anbar desert, the Anbar Operations Command said Thursday (October 4th).

They also uncovered ammunition, shells and communication devices, commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"The army found an underground hideout in Anbar desert containing about one tonne of ammunition and explosives, seven explosive vests and 141 rockets," he said.

"The hideout's contents were seized, and the hideout itself was blown up to prevent ISIS elements from returning to it," he said.

The hideout "probably supplied ISIS remnants with the necessary items to carry out a number of recent operations", al-Falahi said.
