Iraqi forces nab 3 extremists distributing pro-ISIS materials in al-Sharqat

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements were arrested for distributing leaflets promoting the extremist group in a village on the outskirts of al-Sharqat, Salaheddine province, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Friday (September 21st).

"In a security operation assisted by locals in Shukra village in northern al-Sharqat, security forces arrested three ISIS elements, including two accused of committing terror crimes," ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

The ISIS elements had in their possession thousands of leaflets promoting ISIS recruiment, he said.

The materials "incite young men to target security forces, accuse residents of kufr and kill them", he said.

The detainees were taken to a security detention facility pending their referral to court, Maan said.
