Iraqi forces destroy 3 ISIS safe houses, 2 tunnels near Kirkuk

Security operations on Monday (September 10th) at dawn in southwest Kirkuk province have uncovered three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) safe houses and two underground tunnels, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said.

"Iraqi forces destroyed three ISIS safe houses and two tunnels during a large-scale joint operation between the Iraqi Federal Police and army forces in southwest Kirkuk as part of a plan to secure those areas and prevent the resurgence of ISIS cells," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"A rocket launcher, various weapons and large quantities of explosives were seized, and two wanted terror suspects were arrested in the operation," he said.
