Iraqi forces destroy several ISIS positions in Salaheddine

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) hideouts were destroyed in separate army operations near Samarra in Salaheddine province, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Monday (August 20th).

"Over the past 24 hours, Iraqi forces destroyed three ISIS positions, including two underground hideouts, in al-Duluhiya and Mutaybija, northeast of Samarra," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

A third hiedout was found in Hawi al-Mita, west of Samarra, where two ISIS gunmen were engaged and killed after one of them tried to fire RPGs on the army forces, he added.

"Various weapons and explosives, including bombs, RPGs and one explosives vest, were seized," he said.
