Iraqi forces free 3 kidnapped tribesmen in Salaheddine

Iraqi forces have freed three tribesmen who were kidnapped by an armed group last week in Salaheddine province, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Wednesday (August 8th).

"The ministry’s special operations forces carried out a successful security operation and freed three kidnapped Khazraj tribesmen from al-Dujayl," the ministry said in a statement.

"Qassim Arak Samir, Anad Mahmoud Hazzaa and Abbas Arak Samir are in good condition and have been transported to a security detention centre pending their return to their families," it said.

The operation to free the three hostages took place in an area of the Baghdad Belt, the statement said, without specifying who was behind the kidnapping.
