Iraqi forces uncover ISIS hideout, kill 12 extremists in Salaheddine

Joint Iraqi forces killed 12 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in armed clashes late Thursday (August 2nd) in Salaheddine province, the Iraqi police said in a statement.

Among those killed was Abu Tiba al-Baghdadi, the ISIS commander of Wilayat Baghdad, Salaheddine police chief Maj. Gen. Qandeel al-Jubury said.

The ISIS elements were meeting at a house in al-Farhatiya in southern Tikrit, he said.

"The raid on the ISIS hideout was based on an intelligence tip-off confirming that they were at the site," he said.

Locals collaborating with security forces provided accurate tips which were confirmed by intelligence reports about the presence of the terror elements there, he said.

This is further proof that Iraqis "now reject all terrorist conspiracies and criminal plans", he added.
