ISIS cell dismantled in Kirkuk

An "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell involved in terror attacks in Kirkuk has been dismantled, Iraq's Joint Operations Command said Friday (August 3rd).

"Iraqi forces have dismantled a six-member ISIS terror cell headed by Nasr Abu Hajer, a known and wanted terrorist," command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"The cell was involved in various terrorist operations, including bombings and assassinations, and has been planning more terrorist attacks," he said.

The operation to capture the cell members was carried out in three separate areas, he said, adding that Iraqi forces seized weapons and explosives.
