Iraqi forces arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) element in a security operation in al-Intessar neighbourhood in eastern Mosul Wednesday (August 1st), the Ninawa Operations Command said.
"Iraqi forces located a senior ISIS element who was in charge of the group's security patrols during its occupation of Mosul," commander Nejim Eddin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.
Abu Talha served as "Wali al-Jazeera" in the final period of ISIS's control of the city, al-Jubury said.
Intelligence tip-offs and continued monitoring for several days netted the extremist, he said.
Important information on the activities of ISIS remnants was found in his possession, he added.
