Iraqi forces clear 312 houses in Sinjar of ISIS explosives

Iraqi forces have cleared hundreds of houses in Sinjar of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants of war, the Ministry of Defence said Wednesday (July 18th).

"Security forces have over the past four weeks cleared 312 houses in Sinjar of explosives and bombs left behind by ISIS," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"The Iraqi army’s 2nd Division also conducted a search operation in Tal al-Jue village in Sinjar, and cleared three kilometres of road," he said.

Security forces also found 20 locally-made improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Kharab Beik area, which were dismantled without incident by the army's explosives disposal units, he said.
