Bomb workshop uncovered south of Mosul

The Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Friday (July 13th) that security forces have found in an area south of Mosul a workshop that was used by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) for making landmines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

"Since the early hours of Friday morning, the security forces have been removing the contents of an ISIS bomb-making workshop south of Mosul," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

The workshop, also used for rigging vehicles with explosives, was found at a deserted building in al-Qayyarah based on tips provided by locals, Maan said.

It contained "large quantities of explosives which we decided to remove to a remote area for disposal", he said.
