9 terror suspects arrested in Samarra

Nine individuals wanted on terror charges were arrested in operations conducted by joint police-army forces on the outskirts of Samarra, the Samarra Operations Command said Wednesday (July 11th).

"The joint forces conducted a series of raids in al-Line, Albu Badri, Albu Hantush, al-Dhuluyia and Thiraa Dejla, and arrested nine terror suspects," command spokesman Col. Ahmed Effat told Diyaruna.

The suspects are wanted on various terror charges, "including blowing up improvised explosive devices (IEDs), funding terrorist operations and providing support to the 'Islamic State of Iraq and Syria' (ISIS)", he said.

"Weapons, three IEDs, two mortars, and locally-made landmines were seized in the operation, as well as a boat which had been used in an attack last month on security forces in al-Tharthar Lake," he added.
