8 ISIS elements killed in coalition airstrike in Diyala

An international coalition airstrike on Tuesday (July 10th) killed eight "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants in Diyala province, the Iraqi Ministry of Defence said.

Coalition warplanes conducted the strike based on intelligence provided by the Counter-Terrorism Service, the ministry said in a statement.

It targeted ISIS hideouts in the Hamreen hills, and more precisely in Kabashi in al-Saadiya, the statement said.

"Available intelligence indicates that eight terrorists who were planning to set up a fake checkpoint were killed in this precision airstrike," it added.

"A pick-up and a motorcycle, two M16s and a cave used as a safe house for terrorists were also destroyed in the operation," it said.
