Drugs seized in Basra security raids

The Iraqi police seized 33,000 narcotic pills and arrested 55 individuals wanted for various criminal charges in several security operations in Basra, the Basra Operations Command announced Tuesday (June 26th).

"Security forces nabbed 48 wanted individuals across Basra, and seized 33,000 narcotic pills and arrested two drug dealers in al-Qebla area," the command said in a statement.

Security forces have also seized four oil smuggling tanks and arrested the drivers in al-Deir area, it said.

They also captured a woman who was found with drugs in her possession in al-Qorna district in northern Basra, the statement said.
