Baghdad Operations Command seizes explosives

The Baghdad Operations Command on Monday (June 11th) announced it has seized a cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and mortars in the Iraqi capital.

Two suspects who were "involved in criminal offenses" were arrested during the operation, the command said in a statement.

"Over the past 24 hours, a security force from Baghdad Operations Command has seized 20 IEDs and 39 mortars in al-Janabeyeen and Dwailiba, west and south-west of Baghdad, and arrested two," the statement said.

Security forces also found weapons and military gear in a deserted area in al-Thaalba and al-Sadr City, it added.
