Iraqi warplanes have carried out airstrikes on the Syrian city of Hajin, east of Deir Ezzor city, destroying "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) positions, the Iraqi Defence Ministry announced Thursday (June 7th).

"Iraqi F16 jets on Thursday morning, acting on accurate intelligence, pounded a command and control base containing leaders and fighters of the terrorist gangs of ISIS in the area of Hajin inside Syrian territory," the ministry said in a statement.

The strike has achieved its objectives and the site has been completely destroyed, it said.
