13 ISIS elements killed near Samarra

Thirteen "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) gunmen were killed in violent clashes Tuesday night (June 5th) with joint army and police forces in Thiraa Dejla, 30 kilometres south of Samarra, the Samarra Operations Command said.

"Joint Iraqi forces carried out a large-scale operation to comb Thiraa Dejla and surrounding villages and found ISIS terror pockets," command spokesman Col. Ahmed Affat told Diyaruna.

"The terrorists were engaged for more than three hours in clashes in which they used different weapons, including two suicide bombers," he said.

Several vehicles and military assets were destroyed in the operation, as well as two safe houses that belonged to the group.
