Syria roadside bomb kills 1 near coalition base

A roadside bomb killed a fighter Monday (June 4th) near a base in northern Syria used by US and French soldiers from the international coalition battling the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), AFP reported.

"A bomb by the side of the road exploded as a military vehicle drove by on the road from Ain Issa to the Brigade 93 base" in the northern province of al-Raqa, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are also stationed at the base, Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said.

He was not immediately able to determine the nationality of the victim.
