Iraqi forces arrested a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) official and four other elements in the Kirkuk province town of al-Hawija, Iraqi police in Kirkuk province said Tuesday (May 22nd).
Acting on an intelligence tip-off, security forces arrested Abu Wahhab al-Iraqi, the ISIS official in charge of executions, "in a carefully-planned operation carried out last night at a house in al-Zab", said Col. Khaled al-Obaidi of Kirkuk police command.
Al-Iraqi is wanted in connection with "many murders, kidnappings and setting up of fake checkpoints in al-Hawija”, he said, adding that "weapons and explosives weighing more than 200 kilogrammes were found in his possession".
