Iraqi forces killed 10 members of an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell they found hiding in an underground tunnel in Mosul, Ninawa Operations Commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury said Tuesday (May 22nd).
“Army forces found a large underground tunnel, with its opening at a house in al-Husseiniya neighbourhood in central Mosul,” he said.
“The forces entered the tunnel, which stretches for more than two kilometres under Mosul houses, found and engaged militants with hand grenades and light weapons," he said.
Iraqi forces killed 10 cell members and seized items in their possession, including explosive vests, explosives and communications devices, he said.
