Joint forces dismantle ISIS cell in Ninawa

Iraqi forces have dismantled a seven-member "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell in Ninawa province, Ninawa Operations Command said Wednesday (May 16th).

“Joint forces carried out two separate operations in Mosul and Tal Afar and dismantled a terror cell, which included a senior ISIS element,” Ninawa Operations Commander Nejim Edin Karim al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

The senior ISIS element had been involved in killings and attacks on citizens and robbing state-owned institutions during the group's occupation, he said.

“Thanks to citizens’ co-operation, the force managed to dismantle the cell, arrest all members and seize various weapons and gear,” he added.
