Joint Iraqi forces kicked off an operation to crack down on "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements in south-west Kirkuk, the Security Media Centre said Tuesday (May 1st).
Acting on accurate intelligence about the presence of ISIS pockets in villages near al-Hawijah, joint army and Federal Police forces kicked off a new security operation in the area, the media centre said in a statement.
"The operation targets ISIS hideouts in the al-Hawijah villages of al-Udhaiba and al-Sharifi," the statement said.
