Iraqi security forces have killed two terror elements who were planning attacks on visitors taking part in celebrations marking the anniversary of Imam al-Kadhum in Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command said Wednesday (April 11th).
"The Baghdad Operations Command’s intelligence unit set up an ambush at a house in al-Khadhra area in al-Tarmiya, north of Baghdad," commander Lt. Gen. Jalil al-Rubai said in a statement.
When two suicide bombers wearing explosive vests approached the house, the security forces "shot them dead right away", he said.
"They were planning to target religious visitors in Baghdad," al-Rubai said.
