Iraqi forces thwart attempt to plant explosives near Baiji

The Iraqi police in Salaheddine said it has apprehended two terrorists as they were attempting to plant improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near Baiji, west of Salaheddine.

"The security forces at dawn Wednesday (April 11th) arrested two terrorists who were planting locally-made IEDs on a public road near Baiji," Salaheddine police spokesman Hassan al-Majmaie told Diyaruna.

"The two terrorists were arrested, two IEDs were dismantled and and a third was blown up [by the police] ... without incident," he said.

The suspects are being detained by the police awaiting their referral to court according to article 4 of the anti-terrorism law.
