7 ISIS leaders sentenced to death in Ninawa

The Ninawa criminal court on Monday (April 9th) sentenced seven senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leaders to death after convicting them of committing more than 200 mass executions in the Iraqi province.

The verdicts were issued "based on testimonies and extensive investigations which proved [the defendants] have carried out more than 200 executions of innocent civilians in the province since ISIS controlled Mosul on June 10th, 2014", Ninawa criminal court chief Judge Mohammed al-Badrani said.

"The court is still questioning more than 400 ISIS elements," he said.
