Second terror cell dismantled in Anbar in 2 days

Joint Iraqi forces have dismantled an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) terror cell in Anbar province's Abu Tayban area, in the second such operation targeting ISIS cells in two days, the Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (April 4th).

"In a joint effort, Iraqi forces and the 10th Division’s intelligence unit dismantled a six-member terror cell planning criminal operations in Anbar," commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

The cell members were hiding in two buildings in Abu Tayban, where various weapons and military gear, as well as explosives, one booby-trapped vehicle and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also found, he said.

A day earlier, the police, supported by Counter-Terrorism Service and Military Intelligence forces, netted another ISIS terror cell in Ramadi, Anbar's police command said.

The cell was specialised in planting IEDs and planning criminal operations, Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij said.

The cell members were arrested in the areas of Albu Ali and Albu Shaaban, in northern and western Ramadi, he said.
