Iraqi forces nab ISIS 'executions mufti' in Mosul

Security forces in Ninawa province have apprehended an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leader in southern Mosul on Tuesday (April 3rd), the provincial council’s security committee head Mohammed al-Bayati said.

ISIS's "executions mufti" -- Sheikh Hajim al-Dhib -- was arrested in al-Shora neighbourhood in southern Mosul based on intelligence information and tips by the local population, al-Bayati said at a press conference in Mosul.

"The security forces arrested him as he emerged from a house in the area where he had been hiding," he said.

Al-Thib also revealed the identity and location of four of his aides who have been hiding among the locals, al-Bayati said.

The detainee "was involved in mass executions of Mosul civilians and a number of security personnel", he said.
