6 ISIS elements killed in coalition airstrikes in Kirkuk

International coalition airstrikes on "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) positions in Hamrin Mountains have killed several of the group's elements, including two senior leaders, Kirkuk operations commander Maj. Gen. Maan al-Saadi said Friday (March 16th).

"International coalition warplanes, in co-ordination with Iraqi forces, launched two airstrikes targeting ISIS elements in Hamrin Mountains and on the outskirts of al-Debs, killing six ISIS elements," al-Saadi said.

Two senior ISIS leaders were among the dead, he said, including the military commander of the group in al-Debs, and the official in charge of rigging vehicles and sending them to Kirkuk and its outskirts, he added.

The security situation is now stable, he said, adding that a security plan has been drawn up to secure the upcoming Nowruz celebrations.
