Two senior ISIS leaders arrested south of Mosul

Two senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) leaders were arrested in a village south of Mosul, the Iraqi police in Ninawa province announced Tuesday (February 27th).

"Iraqi forces, based on intelligence tips, learned that the ISIS wali of al-Qayyarah Idris al-Kayed Abu Mariam, along with ISIS mufti Salem al-Lahibi, had entered al-Hod village in al-Qayyarah with fake IDs," said command spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammed al-Jubury.

Iraqi forces fully besieged the village and raided the house where the ISIS elements were staying, arresting them immediately, he said.

"The two are dangerous leaders who have been working with ISIS since it rolled into Iraq from Syria," al-Jubury told Diyaruna.

They were involved in various terror attacks, and had given orders to carry out executions "under the pretext of takfir and apostasy", he said.
