Iraqi forces dismantle ISIS cell in Mosul

A seven-member "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell involved in several attacks in Mosul has been dismantled, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced on Tuesday (February 20th).

"Joint Iraqi forces arrested seven ISIS elements, including one sentenced to death in absentia, during a large-scale security operation targeting three neighbourhoods in Mosul where they were hiding," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

"Weapons, communications devices, bombs and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) found in their possession were seized during the operation," he said.

The cell, involved in heinous attacks that include participating in killing more than 200 Iraqi civilians and security elements during ISIS's control of Mosul, was planning large-scale terror operations, Maan said.
