Iraq completes preparations for reconstruction conference in Kuwait

Iraq has completed all the preparations for the three-day Kuwait International Conference for Reconstruction of Iraq, which will kick off next Monday (February 12th), the Iraqi Cabinet's Secretariat announced on Friday.

The Iraqi delegation will include ministers and officials from relevant agencies of the federal government and the Kurdish Region, as well as the governors of all provinces, the Secretariat said in a statement.

The conference agenda will cover three key issues -- reconstruction, investment and stabilisation and peaceful co-existence, the statement said.

"The first day will discuss a study on efforts to assess damages and needs, as well as stabilisation projects, reconciliation and peaceful co-existence," it said.

"The second day will discuss another study on the measures needed to create an investment-friendly environment," it said. "This includes presenting 212 investment projects in all sectors of the Iraqi economy, including projects in the Kurdish region."

The third day of the conference, which will be attended by the Secretary-General of the UN, the President of the World Bank, and the European Union co-ordinator, will be dedicated for announcing the support pledged to Iraq by participating countries," the statement said.
