Syria regime strikes kill 20 civilians in north

At least 20 civilians were killed Thursday (February 1st) in Syrian regime airstrikes on opposition-held territory in the country's north, AFP reported.

The aerial bombardments pounded several areas in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib, where the regime and its allies are waging an assault against opposition and extremist factions.

"Regime raids hit two villages in the south of Aleppo province, killing 15 civilians," said Syrian Observatory for Human Rights head Rami Abdel Rahman.

In the neighbouring province of Idlib, regime airstrikes killed five civilians in the town of Saraqeb, the Observatory said.
