Iraqi forces break up ISIS cell in south Fallujah

Iraqi special forces broke up a six-member "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) cell during an operation in al-Shohada neighbourhood in south Fallujah, Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij said Tuesday (January 16th).

Security forces on Monday evening arrested the ISIS elements, who had been using aliases and fake IDs to move around town, he told Diyaruna.

The cell was located "with the help of a citizen who reported suspicious movements at night at a residence", Erzaij said.

“Explosives and weapons which they were probably planning to use in a terrorist operation in town were seized,” he added.
