Iraqi forces on Thursday (January 11th) found 16 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) belonging to the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) during a search operation in al-Tabi, 12 kilometres south of Baghdad.
“Acting on tips provided by a resident, the security forces found 16 locally-made IEDs set for detonation at a hideout south of Baghdad,” Col. Riyadh Hussein al-Waeli of Baghdad police command told Diyaruna.
“The security forces arrested three suspects found near the area, and arrested another suspect who, according to [intelligence] information, frequented the site,” he said.
“The military engineering unit detonated the dangerous IEDs on the spot," he added.
