Hundreds of displaced families return to al-Qaim

A new batch of displaced families have returned to al-Qaim, in Anbar province, after security forces finished clearing their neighbourhoods of "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) remnants.

"Security forces and the Ministry of Migration and Displacement brought 549 families back to their homes in al-Qaim from a camp in western Ramadi," Anbar province’s advisor for displaced people’s affairs, Mohammed al-Khaledi, told Diyaruna on Friday (January 5h).

The families returned to six neighbourhoods which were cleared of ISIS remnants after services were restored, he said.

"The returning families were provided with food and fuel supplies, and their areas were sprayed with insecticides," he said.
