Seven "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements were killed and two vehicles loaded with weapons were destroyed as they were crossing the desert towards al-Baghuz village on the Iraq-Syria border on Wednesday (December 27th), the Anbar Operations Command said.
"Joint Iraqi forces repelled an attempt by militants to infiltrate into a village on the Syria border," command spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Dulaimi told Diyaruna.
"The operation came just one day after a similar attack in which three terrorists were killed," he added.
"The gunmen are fugitive ISIS members that are trying to find a foothold in the desert area in the border between Iraq and Syria," he said.
