Iraqi forces apprehend 3 ISIS cells north of Baghdad

Three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) sleeper cells have been busted north of Baghdad during a week-long operation to search for ISIS cells and weapons caches, the Baghdad Operations Command said Monday (December 18th).

"Joint Iraqi forces have busted three ISIS sleeper cells in al-Tarmiya, north of the capital, that were planning to destabilise the area," commander Lt. Gen. Jalil al-Rubaie said in a statement.

"Several weapons, including dangerous weapons, were also seized in the operation," he said.

The arrests were made during search operations targeting the entire area and raids on ISIS hideouts, he said.
