11 ISIS elements killed in western Anbar

An Iraqi airstrike killed 11 "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements hiding in a tunnel in Anbar's desert, the Anbar Operations Command said Monday (December 18th).

"The Iraqi air force launched an airstrike on a secret tunnel used by ISIS gangs in Wadi al-Qathf, western Anbar," commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

The airstrike killed 11 ISIS elements, including foreign elements, who were hiding inside the tunnel, he said, noting that weapons and ammunition were also destroyed in the operation.

A similar operation a few days ago killed several ISIS elements who had fled from al-Qaim and sought shelter in Anbar’s western desert, he said.
