Hundreds of displaced families return to Anbar

The local Anbar government announced on Tuesday (December 12th) that 1,600 displaced families have returned home to areas in the province recently liberated from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS).

Over the past 72 hours, 1,600 families have returned to their original areas of residence in al-Qaim, Rawa, Anah and Aloos, provincial spokesman Mazen al-Dulaimi said Tuesday.

They are coming from displacement camps in al-Khalediya, the Tourist City and Ameriyat al-Somoud, he said.

"All the families that have returned have no background of security [violations]," he said, noting that the security forces fully check identification documents of families who want to return in order to prevent the infiltration of extremist elements.

"The return of displaced families to their original areas will put an end to their suffering and help them resume their normal lives," he added.
