7 ISIS elements killed west of Ramadi

Seven "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements were killed in clashes with joint Iraqi army-police forces Tuesday (December 12th) west of Ramadi, the Anbar police command said.

Security forces were on a routine search operation in the area when they came under fire by a group of extremists who were hiding inside a building, as soon as the troops approached it, Anbar police chief Maj. Gen. Hadi Kassar Erzaij told Diyaruna.

Iraqi forces clashed with the attackers after they refused to surrender, killing seven of them, he said.

"It turns out they were ISIS elements who had fled Upper Euphrates towns after they were liberated last month," he said.
