6 ISIS elements arrested near Mosul

Iraqi forces arrested six "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) members hiding among internally displaced persons (IDPs) and rural residents in Hamam al-Alil, south of Mosul, the Interior Ministry said Monday (November 27th).

"Security forces have launched separate operations since last night and arrested six ISIS terrorists, including a dangerous element," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.

They had fled from Mosul during the liberation operations to nearby villages where they were able to hide using fake aliases, he said.

"Major co-operation on the part of residents helped reveal their real identities," he said, adding that the detained include an ISIS element who had carried out executions at a public square in central Mosul.
