3 ISIS elements sentenced to death in Iraq

The Iraqi judiciary has sentenced to death three "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) elements for their involvement in many terrorist operations across the country, the Supreme Judicial Council said Wednesday (November 22nd).

"The defendants have admitted to committing many terrorist operations in different areas of Iraq," council spokesman Judge Abdul Sattar Bayraqdar said.

The first defendant had taken part in the attack on Fallujah and clashed with security forces in several battles, including the battles of al-Malaab, al-Thila, al-Shohada and al-Moalemeen, he said.

"The second defendant, with help from others, had rigged a vehicle with explosives and blown it up as the security forces tried to dismantle it," he added.

"As to the third defendant, he supplied the terrorist group with medicines and other medical supplies," he said.

The court issued the ruling according to article 4 of the anti-terrorism law, he said.
