More than 13,000 displaced people return to Mosul in one week

Iraq’s Ministry of Migration and Displacement announced on Wednesday (September 20th) that more than 13,000 displaced Mosul residents have returned to their homes over the past week.

Ministry official Joanne Mahmoud, who is in charge of following up on the displacement file, said that 13,546 internally displaced people (IDPs) who were staying in al-Khazer, Hassan Sham, al-Kwair and al-Madraj camps have returned home in eastern and western Mosul.

"Families have returned home to resume their normal life after the Iraqi forces liberated their areas and removed ISIS remnants," Mahmoud said.

"We continue to bring displaced people back home ... in co-operation with the UN and other international organisations," she said.
