Security forces find explosives cache in Baghdad

Iraqi security forces on Wednesday (September 20th) raided an underground hideout used to conceal weapons and explosives in Baghdad, the Baghdad Operations Command said.

"During operations to clear the liberated belt areas of Baghdad, our security forces seized dangerous materials owned by terrorists," the command said in a statement.

"Joint forces in Qara Ghul, south of Baghdad, found four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 15 mortars, seven anti-tank rockets, hand grenades, and about 200 kilogrammes of strong explosives hidden at a carefully-sealed underground hideout," the statement said.

"The army also arrested three suspects found near the hideout as part of the operation," it said.
