Two suicide bombers planning to blow themselves up among civilians in northern Diyala province have been killed, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said Monday (September 18th).
Security forces blocked the advance of the two men, who were preparing to attack a group of civilians watching a football match at a café on Sunday night in al-Muqdadiyah's al-Jihad neighbourhood, ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.
The first was killed after security forces suspected him as he approached the café, Maan said.
"The other was chased and killed after he refused to surrender and opened fire on the security forces from a small weapon he was carrying," he said.
