Iraqi security forces on Tuesday (August 8th) apprehended a senior "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) member wanted for terrorism charges, the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.
"During a routine search campaign conducted by the security forces, Ahmed al-Dulaimi, a senior ISIS element wanted for terrorism-related charges, was found hiding in a water tank in al-Nour neighbourhood, east of Mosul," ministry spokesman Brig. Gen. Saad Maan told Diyaruna.
Al-Dulaimi was found with a machine gun and a communication device in his possession, he said.
"The arrest shows the importance of continuing with search operations for ISIS elements who dispersed after they were defeated," he said.
