Coalition destroys ISIS weapons cache near Syria border

An airstrike by international coalition warplanes early Thursday (August 3rd) destroyed an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) site in al-Qaim in western Anbar, on the Syria border, the Anbar Operations Command said.

The strike, conducted in co-ordination with Iraqi forces on the ground, destroyed "a two-story building in al-Haswa used by ISIS as a weapons and ammunition cache", Anbar operations commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"At least 10 terrorists ... were killed in the airstrike," he said, noting that the building was used for supplying suicide bombers with weapons to attack nearby Iraqi forces convoys.
