Tips from ISIS detainee lead to hideout in Anbar

A joint army and tribal force uncovered a cave filled with explosives in western Iraq based on confessions by an "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) detainee, the Anbar Operations Command said Wednesday (July 26th).

More than 30 explosive vests and four rigged motorcycles were recovered in Albu Assaf, north of Anbar's provincial capital of Ramadi, Anbar operations commander Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Falahi told Diyaruna.

"Intelligence provided by a terrorist detained by the security forces has led to the formation of a special operations force from the Iraqi army and tribesmen," he said.

During a search raid in Albu Assaf, on the road linking Anbar to Salaheddine, the force also found containers filled with explosives, 19 locally-made rockets and mortars hidden inside a cave in the area, he said.

"The army seized the explosive vests and kicked off an operation to search for the terrorists who are believed to have fled the area right before the army [operation]," he added.
