Iraqi forces liberate another neighbourhood in Mosul

Iraqi forces recaptured al-Farouk 1 neighbourhood in western Mosul further reducing the area still under "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" control, the Ninawa Operations command said Monday (June 26th).

"Units from the Counter-Terrorism Service liberated al-Farouk 1 in the Old City and raised the Iraqi flag on its buildings after inflicting heavy losses on the enemy," the command said in a statement.

ISIS now controls less than 1% of Mosul, Joint Operations Command spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasul told Diyaruna.

"Operations are ongoing, and there are consecutive collapses in ISIS ranks, but we are advancing cautiously to avoid civilian casualties," he said.
