4 neighbourhoods still under ISIS control in Mosul: commander

The "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS) still controls just four neighbourhoods of western Mosul, Ninawa operations commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Ameer Rashid Yarallah said on Monday (May 15th).

"Iraqi forces have rolled into al-Warshan and Bab Sinjar where fighting is under way, and have so far retaken more than 50% of these two neighbourhoods," Yarallah told Diyaruna.

"ISIS now controls only four residential neighbourhoods, and after that, we will announce the full liberation of Mosul," he said.

The group still has a presence in "6% of the total area of Mosul", Yarallah said, adding that "its remaining elements have turned into scattered pockets and cells that we are working on monitoring and eliminating soon".
