Iraqi forces clear more ground in Mosul

Iraqi forces pushed further into western Mosul on Tuesday (May 9th), liberating new areas from the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria" (ISIS), the Ninawa Operations Command said.

"Joint Iraqi forces liberated the industrial zone area, Sayyid Ghanem and portions of the 30 Tamuz district, and raised the Iraqi flag on them after inflicting human and material losses on ISIS," Ninawa operations commander Lt. Gen. Abdul Ameer Rashid Yarallah said in a statement.

"The Iraqi Armed Forces are making progress as time passes, taking advantage of the collapse in ISIS gangs," he said, adding that efforts are ongoing to evacuate and help civilians in combat areas.
